Baldwin-Westinghouse steeple-cab locomotives were used on small railroads or interurban lines. Baldwin classified them based on horsepower and weight, the Class B ranged on the lower end with 45 to 55 tons, rated at about 400 hp.
Class B locomotives were built in two versions, with an incurved cast iron buffer plate, or a flat steel plate.
